Dr. Fiyah Oates is a psychologist, author, facilitator, philospher, mother and grandmother!
As seen as the mental health professional on the reality show “Iyanla Fix My Life”, Dr. D. Fiyah Oates (“Dr. Fiyah”) holds a PhD in Transpersonal Psychology from the Theological Institute of Transpersonal Psychology. She has completed 80 hours of GACA (Georgia Addictions Counselor’s Association) certification hours through ACTS consulting. In 2014 she graduated from the Faith Leadership Academy at Morehouse School of Medicine, presented by the Southeast Addictions Technology Transfer Center and funded by SAMSA. Dr. Fiyah is certified in counseling survivors of sexual abuse, sexual trafficking and sexual abuse prevention. Dr. Fiyah is also contracted with several companies in teaching the value of meditation practices and techniques that she calls “Therapeutic Meditation”.
Most recently, Dr. Fiyah is a case manager facilitator for A New Way Forward and heads the women’s division of the “University for Parents” a National CARES mentoring movement initiative fostered by Susan L. Taylor of Essence Magazine. Dr. Fiyah also holds a Master Life Coaching Certificate and has completed state required Family Violence Intervention and Prevention (Domestic Violence) basic training.
